Music Program

The music program at St. Philip Lutheran School is an integral part of our philosophy of educating the whole child. All children in the Early Childhood Center and the grade school receive weekly music instruction by a full-time music teacher. In addition to the classroom music curriculum, vocal choirs, handbell choirs, a band program, and a church choir have been added to enhance the musical education a child receives.

Vocal Choirs
The following vocal choirs practice on a regular basis and assist in the leading of weekly worship in the church:

  • Early Childhood Center students

  • Cherub Choir – all 1st through 4th grade students

  • Choirsters – selected 5th through 8th grade students

Handbell Choirs
There are two handbell choirs that perform in weekly chapel services and enhance Sunday worship:

  • Joyful Noise – students at the beginner level of handbells

  • Alleluia Bells – students with at least two years of handbell playing experience

Band Program
The band program exists for students in 4th through 8th grade. Weekly band practices are led by teachers from Luther North High School.

Adult Choir
St. Philip Lutheran Church provides the opportunity for adults to sing in a church choir. Practices are scheduled weekly and the choir performs regularly for Sunday worship services.
